We loved our stay at Seunyo eco retreat it’s definitely paradise! So much so we didn’t leave to venture outside the entire stay. Having been to Bali many times before - we didn’t need to be out and about - it was more about having a healthy, relaxed stopover before returning home.
From the beautiful architect designed bamboo villas to the just-right plunge pool, the quiet location and luxurious spa treatments - this eco-retreat has thought of every detail to make a stay perfect with an eye to sustainability
Standouts are the amazing staff … nothing was too much trouble, they are friendly without being intrusive. Service was prompt and meals always arrived right on time. There’s no restaurant yet … this is underway so all meals are brought to the villa. Each day our breakfast was set out beautifully and cleaned up without fuss.
Also a big mention for the menu. Innovative Indonesian cuisine with a modern twist. All dishes beautifully presented on gorgeous ceramics with bronze cutlery. It was a treat to eat our way through almost the entire menu during our four night stay. Everything healthy and fresh … the chef is a real find!

I stayed 2 nights in January to get away from the hectic Ubud. I regretted checking in, wandering around, and then coming back. We recommend spending as much time as possible at your accommodation.
The few rooms are pavilion-style and have a slightly different configuration. My wife and I went down to the middle level, and it was a private room on the second floor. When you open the door and enter, there is a small pool, bathroom, and living area on the ground, and when you go up again, there is a king-sized bedroom.
It's surrounded by a tropical rainforest, but it's not far from houses, so you can occasionally hear road construction and firecrackers. All construction, including the expansion of the restaurant next to the reception, will be completed in early 2025.
All the food is delicious and the staff are all friendly. In particular, the staff at the reception are always talking to guests. Although it was the rainy season, it was a time to read a book outside, go into the pool, and soak in the hot water in the outdoor bathtub, awakening the five senses in nature.
Still, there are some inconveniences. Some rooms have bathrooms on different floors, so you have to go up and down at night. The stairs can be a bit dangerous, so prepare in advance before going to bed. And because the floor, ceiling, and walls are not completely sealed, small bugs can enter the bedroom. This is a common occurrence in Bali. Also bring incense, mosquito coils, and electric mosquito coils.
Recommended for adult couples who want to have a unique experience in Bali that is different from large resorts.

The most unique hotel I have ever been to, it feels like you are in some kind of fantasy movie, every detail is thought out to the smallest detail! We lived in a pavilion overlooking the river, we had our own pool and many recreation areas. I really liked the room itself, it was magnificent, the round doors are love!
There is a very beautiful area with lots of well-groomed greenery and flowers. The breakfast was very tasty, we took a large breakfast and a fruit bowl from the menu, also delicious coffee, which is very rare for hotels, sweet fruits!
Very nice and helpful hotel staff, a welcome coconut drink and the reception itself is chic!

I had an amazing time at what’s easily one of the most unique places I’ve ever stayed. The room design was thoughtful and beautiful, creating this incredible sense of privacy while being surrounded by the jungle. It felt like a true escape from the busyness of Canggu—a perfect place to unwind and recharge.
Even during rainy season, it was such a cozy spot to relax, read, and just watch the river. And when the sun came out, the pool was absolutely perfect. Can’t recommend this place enough for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat!

I was lucky enough to stay at Suenyo Eco Retreat and it was an unforgettable experience! The surroundings are so lush and the design of the retreat is beautiful with so much detail.
The pavilions were so peaceful and idyllic, it felt like we were the only ones there with just the sound of the river rushing past and the wildlife. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive, going out of their way to make the stay perfect.

It was a wonderful time at the retreat. The accommodation in the middle of nature is overwhelmingly beautiful. The staff was incredibly warm and extremely professional. This was the first place in Bali where we really arrived and felt inner peace. The surrounding area is beautiful and not very touristy. It was great to be able to see Bali like that. Absolutely loved our two nights at Suenyo during our Balinese honeymoon. Wish we booked another night. Best food and service we had in our 2 weeks in Bali. A truly special and unforgettable experience.
A beautiful unique experience. Very one with nature. We stayed right on the river. While we did see some locals and some constriction was happening across the river it did not disturb our stay. They do not own the surrounding land so that has to be expected. We loved the peace and tranquillity. Staff were amazing. It is on a side of a hill so lots of stairs. A great place for couples
We fell in love immediately with this pocket of paradise! We were interested in experiencing the bamboo architecture nestled in the jungle and had a most amazing time. We booked the Padma villa, which had a gorgeous view overlooking the river. The online photos don’t do the place justice. A week before our arrival, we received warm greetings from the staff via WhatsApp, welcoming us and asking what we might need or if we had special requests. We arrived before check-in time; the staff Mila and Rio warmly welcomed us. Mila had excellent suggestions for places nearby to explore and shared a wide range of knowledge about local culture and other interesting info. Another member of the team, Hendra, showed us around the grounds, and let us peek into villas that were empty. The food was fantastic - very generous servings and a wide selection to choose from - heroically served by Agus, Gusti, and Eka, who negotiated the steep stairs to serve our meals and clean up after. The evening massage by the river was fabulous - the expert hands of Lisma and Irwan really soothed our sore muscles, aches, and pains.
We rented a motorcycle through Suenyo and greatly enjoyed exploring the nearby areas, including the Nyanyi and Kedungu.
Our only suggestion for improvement is to do something about the room temperature. The villas get very hot due to heat gain - the copper on the roof and glass around the structure absorb the heat during the day and make the villa feel like a sauna. The insulation and cooling mechanism can be improved. There was a problem with our villa’s air-conditioning when we arrived, it was suffocatingly hot even with the AC on. One of the staff, Rio, immediately attended to our request to look into the issue and a technician eventually came to fix the problem.
Overall, we loved our experience here and felt very much at home thanks to the very warm, attentive, professional care and hospitality of the Suenyo team. We can’t wait to return!

A true haven of peace in the heart of the jungle! Suenyo Bamboo House perfectly combines luxury and nature with comfortable villas and magnificent architecture. The staff is attentive, and the infinity pool offers breathtaking views of the jungle. We loved the floating breakfast experience and the trip down to the river. A memorable stay, to be experienced absolutely!
It was exquisite. We had high expectations as they had marketed the retreat very well on their website and on Instagram but it absolutely lived up to expectations - exceeded them to be honest! The service was impeccable - we loved being able to communicate over whatsapp and the food was spectacular. The breakfast was generous, nourishing and beautifully presented, as was the dinner. We stayed in the 2 bedroom villa for the first 3 nights of our trip to Bali and it was absolutely perfect. The resort is remote but it is exactly what we wanted. It was wonderful feeling so immersed in nature - you could hear a lot of life at night so ear plugs might be necessary - i personally didn't need them but my sister did. Also you should make sure ALL food is stored in the fridge because we had an unwelcome visitor one evening who gnawed through my open suitcase because I forgot i had some nuts in there :/ we were warned though by the staff on arrival so this was my mistake having forgotten about the nuts! Don't hesitate in booking this place - it is very special.
By far one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed in. The rooms are beautiful and you feel like you are in the middle of the jungle. The staff is just warm and accommodating. The food is also divine. I would have liked everything on the menu but I recommend the Balinese smoked chicken, it's a dream, I tell you. I could go on writing here forever but I tell you, come here and see for yourself. The hotel is a clear 12 out of 10!

Be sure to treat yourself to a massage- we did the Sacred Couples Ritual as well as Muscle Rejuvenation and foot reflexology massage- we had a a lot of massages before, but those were undoubtly the best we ever had.
The included breakfast options are very tasty too! Be sure to try some different ones - we loved the Tinutan (a type of porridge), the fluffy pancakes and the smoothie options!
As you are sleeping in bamboo pavillon on the jungle be aware that they are respective animal sounds, so bring some earbuds if you're a light sleeper.

Suenyo Eco Retreat is without a doubt one of the most beautifully designed properties I have ever been to in my life. The pavilions are spacious and modern without any compromise on comfort (USB ports next to your bed, good air conditioning, comfy bed, etc.), all of the staff members are incredibly kind and continuously went far above and beyond expectations, the food was some of the very best I had in Bali, and communication during our stay was very smooth.
Sadly our experience in the Bhoma Pavilion was somehow tarnished by ongoing constructions across the river. The construction is not managed by the Suenyo team and unfortunately they cannot influence it, some days it might be completely quiet and others it might be not... we got unlucky and during our stay there was several hours of noise from heavy machinery.
To the team’s credit, after we complained that we were not getting the tranquility that we expected they did their very best to do everything in their control to make our stay as pleasurable as possible.
While in the next couple of weeks there's a slight chance that guests will experience similar disruptions, I am confident that Suenyo is a top location worthy to visit, yet it's also worth to know that the overdevelopment in Bali has its drawbacks and can impact your stay in any of the beautiful serene retreats on the island (having been to some of the most famous ones, Suenyo is clearly among the very best)

We really enjoyed our stay with team Suenyo.. They were great as a team. The pavilion was beautiful, with a gorgeous view. Waking up everyday with sounds of the nature was extraordinary.
The food had a great taste and the services were excellent.
If we did now beforehand that our stay would be so good, we would have booked a couple days more here. But maybe a next time..

Amazing resort! The staff are all so kind and helpful. The hotel is beautiful, huge rooms and the attention to detail is immaculate. Mila at the front office is very welcoming and made our experience even more memorable. I would highly recommend trying a flower bath and having the floating breakfast. Overall an incredible experience!
This place is a must when in Bali! We’ve never experienced anything like it. The bamboo architecture, the sounds of the jungle, the amazing food and service… everything was perfect. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. It was our first time in Bali so they arranged an excursion to explore the area and sites, and also organized a massage down by the river. The food was some of the best we had in Bali (if not the best). 5 star service all around. Highly recommend!
Suenyo is the exceptional Balinese experience! From the moment we arrived at the extraordinary reception, things just got even better! The combination of imagination, attention to detail, comfort and exceptional service made for the most memorable stay that, dare I say, we’ve ever had. During our 3 nights we took advantage of everything. The world class wellness and beauty treatments, the divine cuisine, 3 times a day, and even a workshop in traditional offering baskets, as well as yoga. From there we did day excursions. Thank you Suenyo and your wonderful staff. Next time we’ll come for a week!
Suenyo is a dream! The perfect place to relax in the jungle, along the river with the sounds of nature. We stayed in a beautiful bamboo bungalow with a private pool. We were blown away by the details and how much effort clearly went into making this place so special. The food was so delicious and the staff were so kind and accommodating. For our anniversary, they arranged a flower bath and later a dinner by a river and it was magical. There really is no better way to experience what Bali has to offer. We will definitely be back!

First experience of holidaying in Bali, flying from Bandung to find a truly amazing resort with views of the forest and natural river. The building design is aesthetic and unique. Not to be missed, authentic Indonesian dishes are rich in spices. This location and villa was paradise. Quiet and private made it the perfect get away for me and my wife. The tranquil flow of the river, with rose bath outside to enjoy the beautiful sounds of nature. We had the couple spiritual massage and purification ceremony. The special dinner menu and flower set up was very romantic and picture perfect. We had such a great experience, you will need to indulge in it yourself to get the full satisfaction of such a magical experience. I look forward to my next stay. Great place! Amazing bamboo architecture and greenery. Very helpful sweet nice people in staff. Welcome drink and assistance was great! Even ordered dinner was nice. Great villa with natural river, floating breakfast, pool and interiors.
I really like the design which is very aesthetic and unique. When we arrived we were served a welcome tea made from coconut water and the coconut meat quenched our thirst with a garnish of lemon grass and lime leaves. The building design is combined with bamboo which blends with the view of the river and tall trees. What's unique is that we hear the sound of crickets which makes us sleep more soundly. There also the view is directly towards the sun which makes the atmosphere even warmer. What I really like is the design of the bathroom which is so spacious. I really enjoyed my stay here.
